Smoking Cessation

As well as many other harmful chemicals, cigarettes contain nicotine. Nicotine has been shown in an article in the Lancet to be potentially as addictive as heroin to the human body, its action provides a high to which the brain becomes accustomed and cannot function normally without.

There are many smoking cessation options available on the market to help a smoker to quit their habit. Most of these use a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) with the aim of gradually weaning the body off of the addictive substances in cigarettes. Unfortunately these replacement therapies offer a poor likelihood of succeeding as they still maintain a source of the addictive chemicals for the body that prevents it completely de-toxing. Many people find that they get to a point of reducing with the NRT and then return to smoking sometimes whilst still using the NRT.

Other treatments, such as acupuncture, have proven very successful, although some clients may be put off from seeking this method due to needle aversion. Low level laser therapy offers the same benefits of acupuncture without the needles.

How does it work?

The Nicolite low level laser uses tiny amounts of light to stimulate certain acupuncture points on the ears, face and hands. This stimulation causes the release of natural endorphins in the body which replace the nicotine high that cigarettes would have provided for that person. Within the first week of treatment with Nicolite, the body would no longer be physically addicted to Nicotine and no longer require cigarettes. For many clients there remains a certain amount of emotional addiction to the cigarettes which will require full commitment to remain a non-smoker in the future.

Is it painful?

Low level laser is so gentle that the majority of clients have no sensation of treatment at all, while others actually begin to feel relaxed during the treatment as the stimulated endorphins begin to take effect.

Is it safe?

Acupuncture has been used for many thousands of years. Nicolite offers a completely non-invasive method of this traditional Chinese remedy.

Are results permanent?

During the course of your treatments, assuming you do not smoke a cigarette, your body will be freed from the effects of nicotine within 48 hours. The treatment will free you from the addiction to nicotine but will not prevent you from smoking a cigarette in the future. Clients who are not 100% committed to becoming a non-smoker may find themselves giving in to cravings or social situations where they will then begin to smoke again.

How much does it cost?
