Microdermabrasion

Even the most religious skin care regime of cleansing, toning and hydrating, can fail to present the best face to the world if the surface of the skin being cared for is made up of tired and dead skin cells. Home based exfoliation methods can manually remove some of these dead skin cells but it is the professional exfoliation available in clinics, by microdermabrasion or chemical peels, that best prepares the surface of the skin for continual care at home, increasing new skin cell production and stimulating the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the entire tissue thickness.

How does it work?

Microdermabrasion can use either tiny crystals or diamond tip surfaces to abrade the skins surface. The abrasive action of the diamond tips or crystals removes the dead skin cells revealing the fresh new skin cells underneath. The exfoliating action also stimulates microcapillary blood flow that oxygenates the skin and provides the nutrients it needs to remain in best condition. The exfoliation can also reduce pigmented lesions and blemishes, uneven skin surface and some scarring.

How many treatments?

A typical course of 4-6 sessions is indicated for most clients although this will depend on the clients intended goals of treatment and the condition of their skin.

Is it painful?

Microdermabrasion involves only the outer layers of skin and the removal of these is not associated with any pain. The action of treatment tip across the skin may feel like a gentle scrubbing action.

Is it safe?

Microdermabrasion has been used in cosmetic clinics around the world for more than 10 years and is very well established. Many thousands of people have been treated over the last ten years and as long as the treatment is preformed correctly by trained professionals and you follow advice there should be no side effects at all.

Are results permanent?

As the skin has a constant turnover of skin cells developing from the lower layers and migrating upwards to the surface of the skin where they are finally sloughed off by natural wearing action, it is advised that occasional maintenance treatments with the microdermabrasion are scheduled after your initial course of treatments which will support your home care routine and maintain skin condition.
